Erica Morgan Loftis, 29, of Norman, OK passed away on Monday, October 12, 2015. She was born in Norman on July 7, 1986 to wonderful parents Eric and Michelle Loftis, and was promoted to big sister by her beloved brother, Taylor. A 2004 graduate of Norman North High School, Erica went on to attend the University of Central Oklahoma.
Her passion in life was caring for animals – like her bottle baby kitten, Lokii and including the pups lucky enough to be called her own babies, Munchkin, Bear, and Hippo. Erica worked tirelessly rescuing pets and reuniting them with their families during the 2013 Oklahoma tornado season, although her involvement in animal rescue began earlier than that. She was known and loved in the animal rescue community for her incredible dedication and her huge heart. She gave of her time, talents, and, most notably, her heart to countless precious animals in need by volunteering at local animal shelters and with rescue groups and nonprofit organizations including, but certainly not limited to, Chinese Shar Pei Rescue Network, Orphaned Angels Rescue, The Bella Foundation, the City of Norman Animal Welfare Center, and the Friends of the Animals of Norman (FAN). Erica served on the Board of Directors for FAN, through which she enriched many human and animal lives and from which she will be sorely missed.
Erica’s memory will be cherished by her parents, Eric and Michelle Loftis and her younger brother Taylor Loftis of Norman, OK, her grandmother Sandra Paschall and step-grandfather Jerry Jantzen of Oklahoma City, OK, her uncle Robin Paschall and his wife Christie, of Wilmington, NC, as well as by many other friends and family members – both furry and human.
They are comforted in knowing that she was welcomed at Rainbow Bridge by the many animals who she cared for during their lives and crossed the bridge together to be reunited with her grandparents Gene Paschall, Donald and Jewel Loftis, as well as her great-grandmothers Ella Upham and Opal Loftis.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, October, 17, 2015 at 10:00 am at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery (2301 E. Indian Hills Rd) in Norman, OK. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Friends of the Animals of Norman (P.O. Box 6414 Norman, OK 73070-6414 or via paypal to the email address email@example.com) or to a rescue foundation of your choice in her name.
